Join this month’s ATD Executive Education Series for an engaging and enlightening discussion (Q&A format) with Dr. Curtis Gregory that delves into the heart of shaping leadership excellence. Effective leadership is always important, but during uncertain or challenging times we need exceptional leadership. This program explores the traits of exceptional leaders, the difference between transformational and servant leaders, and the role empathy plays. 

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Curtis Gregory | Associate Professor, Dept. of Management at Temple University

Dr. Gregory is a community-conscious developer of human capital and enabler of access to capital for marginalized communities. He is an expert in leadership and organizational change, a talented asset manager, powerful motivator, and staff developer, as well as an excellent communicator.

Since 2017, Dr. Gregory has been on the faculty of the Fox School of Business, Temple University, where he has taught strategic management courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has served as the Academic Director of Experiential Learning and continues to serve as a Project Executive with the Fox Management Consulting Practice.

Dr. Gregory served the City of Philadelphia as Senior Director of Business Services and Interim Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity from 2009 – 2017. During his tenure, he raised the level of awareness in the Office of Business Services as a resource for small business owners, and helped to write and implement the strategic plan for the Office of Economic Opportunity. Prior to working for the City of Philadelphia, he held senior vice president positions in commercial banking with Wachovia Bank, PNC Bank, and Keybank.

Dr. Gregory is a graduate of Leadership Philadelphia and Leadership Pittsburgh. He has served on the board of directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the American Diabetes Association, and Leadership Philadelphia. Earlier in his career, he served as President of Urban Bankers of Greater Dayton, Dayton, Ohio.

Mark Spool is a pragmatic, results-oriented consultant with over 40 years experience in leadership development.  He coaches executives and high potential employees in many organizations, as well as specializes in 360-degree feedback and succession planning.

Mark’s breadth of consulting experience includes companies in finance, manufacturing, food & beverage, retail, and oil & chemical, as well as family-owned businesses, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.  He has also held management positions in ARCO Chemical Company, Payless ShoeSource and Marathon Oil Company.

Mark holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University.  He is the lead judge for the HR Department of the Year and the CEO of the Year Awards, is a Baldrige certified examiner, has been an instructor at Penn State and Villanova Universities, and has published several articles in his field.
