As a Training or L&D professional, you rarely get to stick to the script. Questions come out of nowhere, the room shifts, and the plan changes. The best facilitators and communicators stay confident and keep the audience engaged anyway.

Join us for an energizing evening with Will Dennis, Founder & Chief Catalyst, Unscripted Productions, who will show how the principles of improv can sharpen the way you communicate, facilitate, and connect with learners.

You’ll walk away with practical ways to:

    • Listen more actively and respond with purpose

    • Stay calm and flexible when things don’t go as planned

    • Build rapport and trust quickly with any audience

    • Bring more energy and presence to your training sessions

Whether you’re a seasoned trainer or new to L&D, you’ll leave with ideas you can use in your next workshop, meeting, or presentation. No improv experience needed.

Come ready to learn, laugh, and meet other talent development professionals in our chapter.

The pace of work is relentless. We’re expected to absorb more, decide faster, and have an answer now, even when the answer isn’t obvious. For talent development professionals, that means continually making judgment calls about what people need, where to invest, when to challenge, when to listen, and how to move forward when there is no clear playbook.

But in all that noise, how well are we listening to ourselves? The Intuitive Edge is an engaging, out-of-the-box session about learning to trust what we know. We’ll explore how intuition, pattern recognition, experience, values, and self-trust inform our judgment, and how to distinguish those signals from fear, bias, outside expectations, and the sheer volume of information competing for our attention. Participants will learn how to quiet the noise, tune into what matters most, and use a practical TRUST framework to make more confident, aligned decisions in their work and careers.

The session aligns directly with three areas of the ATD Talent Development Capability Model. It strengthens Emotional Intelligence & Decision Making by building self-awareness and helping participants examine what influences their choices; supports Career & Leadership Development by strengthening judgment and self-trust in ourselves and the people we develop; and advances Future Readiness by building the discernment needed to navigate ambiguity, change, and an increasingly complex workplace.

As AI puts more answers at our fingertips, talent development professionals have an increasingly important opportunity to strengthen the distinctly human capabilities technology can’t replace – judgment, discernment, and the confidence to act when the answer isn’t obvious.

Before you spend another dollar creating training, hiring a consultant, or buying content, there’s a question worth asking: Does our organization already know this?

Most organizations have accumulated enormous amounts of knowledge—in SharePoint, Teams, shared drives, LMSs, binders on shelves, and, most importantly, inside people’s heads. The problem isn’t always that we lack knowledge. It’s that we don’t know what we have, where it lives, whether we can trust it, or how to get it to the people who need it.

In this practical and energetic session, Wayne Turmel will challenge the traditional “knowledge warehouse” approach and explore what it takes to create a knowledge garden—where useful information is identified, tended, shared, and actually used. We’ll also examine how naming protocols, smarter search and AI, and intentional knowledge capture can help L&D professionals stop recreating what already exists.

    Speaker

Wayne Turmel | Author and Speaker

Wayne Turmel is an author, speaker, and SME for the Evolving Workplace at the Kevin Eikenberry Group. He is the co-author of *The Long-Distance Leader* and has spent decades helping leaders and organizations communicate, collaborate, and work more effectively.

**Register now and come prepared to ask a deceptively simple question: What does your organization already know—and can anyone find it?**
