Following up on the smash hit session with ATD national president Tony Bingham on Social Learning, the Learning Technologies SIG of ATD Philadelphia presents round three on the topic.
Social media has expanded beyond marketing and become a more prominent tool for organizational learning and communication. Organizations adding social media as an internal training and communication tool often do so to duplicate the success of marketing, leverage unused features in existing technology, follow an industry trend or appeal to younger workers. However, successful social learning implementations require a strategy and a way to measure success. Join this session to explore case studies of successful social learning efforts, discover the training and communication challenges that social media can address, and begin to create a social learning strategy for one of your learning initiatives.
About the Speaker:
Andy Petroski is the Director and Assistant Professor of Learning Technologies at Harrisburg University of Science & Technology. For the past six (6) years, Andy has led the implementation of social learning initiatives for faculty training and student learning at Harrisburg University and has consulted with external clients on social learning and community building strategy through the university’s Center for Advanced Entertainment and Learning Technologies. He has seventeen (17) years’ experience as an instructional technologist, program leader and emerging technologies researcher. His work at Harrisburg University has included efforts in the areas of educational technology strategy, games and simulations, classroom technology, web 2.0, patient education, social learning and faculty development.
