Dear Members & Future Members,

Welcome to February! According to Punxsutawney Phil, we may get an early Spring! Though we are in the heart of Winter, February remains the shortest month of the year. Did you know that February has some unique attributes?

Here are a few:

  • Once every six years, February is the only month that has four, full seven-day weeks.
  • February starts on the same day of the week as March and November in common years, and on the same day of the week as August on leap years.
  • February ends on the same day of the week as October every year.  In leap years, it is the only month that begins and ends on the same weekday.
  • We celebrate the birth of two Presidents as well as Black History Month.
  • And February is an important month for sports fan when two NFL teams face each other in the Super Bowl on the first Sunday of February!

Just like February’s unique attributes, ATD-PHL has a lot to offer to our members, including newly launched Chapter webinars. Our first one is being held on Thursday February 18th from 4-5pm; Learning Analytics: The Essential Measurement Tool to Drive Competitive Advantage. Click here for more information.

If you prefer to network in-person with other Learning professionals, join us on Tuesday, February 23rd at the Leadership & OD SIG from 8am-10am at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, where you’ll learn more about Capturing & Sharing Knowledge in your Organization. Click here for more information.

We had a successful January chapter event at the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) in Malvern. Members and guests enjoyed a tour of the facilities with the latest and most innovative technology. We learned that there are so many ways technology can enhance collaboration among colleagues, with advantages to reaching multiple people and sites for learning. Thank you to our guides and Chapter partner, MTC! If you missed our January event, you have an opportunity to check out MTC at our March 2nd event where Dr. David Bach will present on how we can use science to help our learners get more done at work. Click here for more information.

There are many exciting things happening at ATD-PHL. I encourage you to visit our webpage on a regular basis for updates on various opportunities to learn and grow professionally. If you like to become more involved with the chapter, please visit our volunteers section by clicking here. We have open committee and leadership roles. In addition, we are looking for speakers for our 2016 Regional L&D conference; May 4th. To complete an application click here.

And lastly, the ATD-PHL Board of Directors held their 2016 kick-off meeting last month and established the Chapter’s vision for 2016. I’m excited to be sharing this with all of you and ask that you continue to hold us accountable in meeting this vision. We can’t be successful without the support of our members – Thank you!!

ATD-PHL 2016 Vision
“Create a vibrant, friendly community of Learning & Talent Development professionals who will collaborate and share their expertise, gain new knowledge and skills that will grow their value and help them improve workplace performance at their organization.”

Best Regards,
Mary M. Conley
